No crushes ,just crushed'em!hahahahahaha! No, it was Melvin???
Teachers that inspired me the most was Mrs Mary Lipscomb, Mr Walter McNeil, Mr York and Mr Davis and Mrs Boydd. Mrs Lipscomb because she reminded me that where I came from was nothing compared to where I was going. Mr McNeil allowed us to express in class the potential that he saw in us. Mr Guy York taught me that nothing in life comes easy just like his class. And Mr Glen Davis I think that's his first name . He was the neatest man and a very distinguished gentle man. He never called us out of our name. He addressed us young people as young lady and young man. Everyday and I mean everyday rain, sleet, sunshining or snowing he was always out side watching over the bus riders and the walkers. Making sure we were protected from strangers and weren't late for our breakfast or class. I often wondered did he ever get sick from doing that? He made W.B Wicker okay. Mrs Mary Boydd was awesome too. I remember one christmas she threw a party at her home for her class and gave us socks ,pencils, dolls and trucks. She had cookies and hot dogs for snack. It was fun especially when you were poor and didn't have much. At Lee senior you had to love the cheer leaders because they made the game. Th...Expand for more
ey couldn't jump but they could dance. They were thicker than our cheer leaders of today. We had great football and basketball players. Our band was hot too! They had great music that stirred the fans who came to the games. My happy thoughts come to me when I remember how the black youth and white youth at W.B Wicker would share lunch, ice-cream and money helping one another out. And lunch was great we had real food not processed. Real biscuits chicken, potatoes etc;. Great cooks!
All through school I spelled my name “Siranda McLean” it wasn’t until I registered to get my license, and had to have my birth certificate, that I saw my name spelled “Sirander McLean”! I had a long talk with my mother about that! I told her she had me walking through my school days with a name that wasn’t mine according to my birth certificate. So from NC to NY and NJ. My first name was misspelled.🤦🏽🤷🏽♀️ Of course she laughed, then apologized for a lot of things she and my father put me through. Thank God for certifications and education!
Workplace
I am a Lee county substitute teacher K-12, which I enjoy. I am also a full time Pastor.
I always wanted to be a teacher when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were right.
