Sonia's Story
6/2015
It's hard to believe that our 30th class reunion is upon us! It is scheduled for July 23-25, 2015. For anyone who doesn't have the details of the reunion yet, please go to our website at fhsclassof1985.org or check facebook at fhsclassof85reunion. We need a headcount for who is coming by July 8th.
I'm still working as a CPA and loving it! My kids are all out of high school now and my husband and I are celebrating our 26th reunion.
Hope to see as many of you as possible at the reunion!

I've been working in the "exciting" field of accounting since graduating from FHS. In 1993 I started my own tax service and had the satisfaction of seeing it grow to 700 clients with the help of several employees each tax season. In 2001 I sold the business and four years later became a CPA.
So, professionally speaking, things are pretty good. Personally, there continue to be challenges and stresses like everyone has to some degree. My husband and I will celebrate our 20th anniversary in 2009. He retired from the Farmington police department a few years ago to be home with our kids while I work full-time (he is so lucky-...Expand for more
--I'll have worked for over 40 years before I get to retire, and then I won't even have the benefit of a pension!)
We have three sons, all in Aztec schools. Our oldest, Matthew, is a great kid and computer whiz in the 10th grade. Our youngest, Steven, is an amazing all around joy in the 6th grade. Our middle son, David, is struggling with Autism. Thankfully, he has a high IQ so he has "high-functioning" Autism. However, he has a terrible time coping with everyday things that everyone else takes for granted in life. His condition affects everything our family does and is a huge challenge for us. We struggle with medication, school, and behavior issues on a continuing basis, and just keep hoping to find the right combination of therapies to help him to have the best kind of life possible, while trying to preserve our family as a whole.
I am eternally optimistic that things will get better and that I'm doing the right things for my family. It's a daily balancing act between committing the time needed for my career to support my family while keeping them first in all other respects.
