Stacy's Story
Life
There is a pretty active group of alumna on Facebook, but this seems a good place to connect with schoolmates. If you can't find someone here though, check there!
I am living in Baltimore with my husband, Paul, and our multiple furry and feathers friends. As I post this, I've been married for a little over five years. This is a first marriage for both of us, and we don't have any children. We live in a house the hovers somewhere between downtown and the suburbs. Life is good more often than it isn't, and I'm willing to take the rough times in order to appreciate the good times.
My classmates.com resume sums up my educational experiences and my career. Currently, I'm working for a local school system as a Teacher Mentor, and am completing a post graduate certification in Administration and Supervision. I've also been a general education teacher and a special education teacher, as well as a grant facilitator, department chairperson, and team leader. I miss being in the classroom with children now and then, but find that mentoring new teachers is equally challenging and keeps me busy enough that I don't think of it often. At one point, I almost moved to Scotland to teach teachers, but I decided that I wanted and needed to be near my family. And then... I met Paul!
My most recent passion (aside from my husband, o...Expand for more
f course) is doing genealogical research. I also enjoy gardening, although I'll admit to letting the weeds take over once it gets really hot. I don't watch television, but I have been known to rent a season of a hot show from Netflicks. I still read avidly; there isn't much I don't or won't read. And, of course, I spend a bit too much time on the dot com.
Have I changed much? Hmmm...
Maybe not so much. I still enjoy a good belly laugh, and I like to make others laugh, too. I love to swim, but don't do it often enough. I'm creative, and generous, and outgoing. At the core, I'm still the me that I always have been: grounded, capable, and generally good.
I've also learned a lot in the last 35 years. I don't try so hard to impress the cool kids any more. I've learned to admit when I make mistakes...and when I just plain make poor decisions. I'm not too proud to apologize. And, I know when to stop talking, and when to start listening. I've learned the value of true friends, and that change is inevitable. Needless to say, these are all lessons I've learned the hard way. I guess we all have a few of those.
So, as always, what you see is what you get...and what you get ain't all that bad. Drop a line if you'd like to catch up. Chances are, I'll remember you. I have an excellent memory for people, faces, and names.
