Starla's Story
Email me at iloveagoatee at the big red Y dot com. I haven't changed. I'm still the same smart ass I always was! I still speak my mind regardless of the consequences. I don't meet any strangers. I'm the life of the party! I work at a law firm in Louisville, KY as a secretary, though they want me to refer to myself as a legal assistant. What's the difference? I do whatever needs to be done, typing, filing, calendaring, drafting paperwork. I tell the paralegal what to do so I guess I'm kinda in charge of my group (including the 3 lawyers lol). I work for a junior partner and two associates. I've been practicing law since I worked in Lumberton. I did that from 1985 (I also married Len in 1985) until 1994 (I also separated from Len in 1994). Then I worked at the Health Dept as assistant to the Nursing Director and 3 Nursing Supervisors from 1994 (when I met Mike, a really great guy from Connecticut and Kenny Bailey's cousin) and I stayed at RCHD until 2001 (around the same time Mike and I parted ways). Then I moved to Kentucky where my brother Butch and his family live. I relaxed for about a year and enjoyed life. I went to work at Lindsay Wilson College for about a year. In Jan of 2003 I met my husband Bob and he lived near Louisville. By July of 2003, I was living with Bob and working at Lynch, Cox, Gilman & Mahan in Louisville. Now, I'm assuming the ship will go down with this man and this job since the other two major relationships and jobs came and went together! lol I've always found that quite funny -- my men and jobs come and go together. I finally found the right guy and I have a great boss (tho the hubby and the job are both pains in my ass sometimes lol)! We live on a golf course and tee box number 10 is in my back yard. My backyard view is gorgeous in the spring and early summer. Bob loves golf and he's a good golfer. I go with him sometimes, especially for the scrambles and tournaments. His handicap averages about a 7 I'd say, sometimes higher, sometimes lower. I love downtown Louisville and I love Kentucky - it's amazing! I am a University of Kentucky Men's Basketball fan! children and like it that way, less worries to put ourselves through and more stuff for us! lol Don't get me wrong, I love kids until they turn 5 and go to school -- then I'm done. They change - they grow up and, let's just say, I remember being a tween and a teenager! My best friends were Barbara Bullock (who happens to live a few hours south of me -- imagine that), Lynda Jane, Larry Leggett, Alex Monroe, Leigh Mitchell, Steven Smith, Joseph Nye, David Smith (and maybe a couple I'm just forgetting at the moment). But this group was together all the time except every once in a while when somebody would have a date or something. I'm not even gonna talk about the things we did but I know I don't want a kid out there doing those same things! lol Not to mention, there were many times with Rose Hodges and Michelle Purcell and Mary Walters and Penny Britt, Barbara and Lynda Jane up on 2nd Street that I'd rather not have to wonder if my kid is out there doing and exacting revenge upon me for my dirty deeds! lol So no kids for me! We have a some-times-adopted dog. She belongs to our friend Dan who runs the golf course, use to be the pro, but is now the director and is one of the best people I have ever met in my life. He used to live in the building we live in and his dog Mulligan (Mully for short) would come up with him sometimes when he would visit. Or, if we were all down at other friends' (Toby or Brian/Meagan) places she would be over there. So when Dan bought a house just across the way (1500 ft), Mully took a while to get used to living over there. She was either here or at Toby's as Brian and Megan had moved before Dan moved. Now Toby has moved and even though she is used to her new home and loves that it has plenty of room for her and Dan and the two cats, the fact that she has a doggie door leads her right back to my house. So when I grocery shop, I buy dog food and treats for her just like she's mine! Some days I come home and she is waiting for me to get her. Then I may not see her for a few days. Anyway, as you can see, I can still run my mouth for a long time without taking a breath! So you'll probably remember me just as I am now - sarcastic, loud, outspoken, straightforward, hardheaded, funny, crazy! lol
