Stephanie's Story

Life I left Kingman as soon as I could around 1995 and moved to Las Vegas where my husband and I opened our own business and built our first home. I had my first daughter (Heather) in 1994 just before leaving Kingman. My second daughter (Summer) arrived in 1997. Think God or whoever...that my family was all still in Kingman, because just 3 months after my youngest was born....my girls daddy, my husband was killed in a car accident. I had tons of support and was able to keep my head up....by drawing straingth from my girls, family, and friends. I met my current husband on line in 1997. (Just 3 months after my husband died.) On some crazy leavel...we connected right away. He lived in Salem Oregon and I still in Las Vegas. We would take turns flying to see eachother every few week for about 8 months. There was never a day go by where we did not talk to one-another. I asked him to move out to Vegas with me about Christmas of 1998. I had to see if things would work for us on my ground. I had way to much to risk by leaving my house (the only one my girls have ever known), my business (the thing that was keeping the roof over our heads), and the close-ness of my family. So he moved in and we started doing life right away. We got married Augest 1999. After many trips up north to Salem and Seattle to visit his family....I fell in love with the ways of his family, the slow pace of life, the green of the trees and plants, the damp rainy days, and the clean air. I had to move. We left Vegas in 2002 and bought an older home on 2 achers with a year-round creek running through the back of it. This is my heaven! My husband runs a branch of the family ...Expand for more
bussines, allowing me to be a full time stay home mom. I'm able to help at their schools and be home for them when they get home from school. My husband and I are crazy for sports, so we coach all the girls teams. Both the girls are into softball and basketball. They both played on our Majors Little Leauge Softball team. Heather just got done with an 11 year old All Stars team which we coached. Summer does Little Leauge and A.S.A Softball, and plays all year around. Heather digs basketball and is known as the "BRUT" in our leauge. Summer plays Leauge, Tournament, and 3 on 3 Street Ball. In my spare time, which there is not alot of....I take Art classes at Chemeketa Collage. I'm not doing it for a degree. It's my way of regrouping. I have been able to network with some really great artist and have been commissioned for a few projects over the last few years. I just got finnished kiln casting 15, 8lbs....9"x11"x2.5" solid billet glass awards for the Salem Film Festival. When we all have a minute away from work, school, and sports we go camping every chance we get. We all love the out doors, camping, fishing, boating, and hicking. Even a little rain wont stop us. When my husband and I need a second to do something together....we play poker. No limmit is our game and we are both very skilled at it. We play some tournament poker, but we both dig the home games we play. I feel like we win more money doing home games. I was really stoked to see there where a few people I remembered from school here. "Even thou...I really hated school and even more hated Kingman." It's cool to read about people you haven't thought about in over 13 years.
