Stephen's Story
I started school in Fort Erie at Douglas School in 1955.Then in 1961 we moved to St Catharines where I attended Connaught Public School then on to high school at the St Catharines Collegiate from 1965 to 1970.Was in the Canadian Armed forces for a while then got a job in Thorold at the Hayes Dana Auto parts plant in 1972.I worked mostly as a parts inspector but did do some forge work as a heater and a few years as a machine operator. I worked at Hayes until 2007 when I retired after 35 years service.Then the plant closed down.I am with my second wife now since 1991.As of a few years ago we started to travel and see the world.In 2006 we went to Bonny Scotland ( most of my family is from here).In 2008 Rome was our choice and this year in Sept. we are off to Germany and Austria.
It would be great to meet some of my long lost friends from the 50s in Fort Erie,but I think they have all moved to other parts of the world.

s a ton of kids to play around with and we all went to the same grade school. I remember we called ourselves the Marren Street Gang. Some names...Gary Sawatsky,Karen Foley and sis Shirley the Beaulieu clan Jack ,Richard Don,Rita and a few more. Ron and Bob Hope,the Wilson clan Ron,Don,Matt,Beatty,Ken,Bob.Yvonne Turbin,Pat Woods,Donna Coon,Debbie and Sherry Jenkins,Bob McSporran,Bruce Anderson,Arkell Farr,Pat Wardell,Jeannie Moschinsky and a bunch more I fail to remember right now. Life was kind of nice and slow back then for the 25 years i lived there.
Its not nice aging I have lost a lot of memories of the first 10 years in Fort Erie.I now only remember a few kids and a few events from way back then in the 50s.As for people Ron Ferris,Frank Wolbert,Bob Hanna Paul and Earl Kelly,Patsy Hartman and thats about it out of a class of 30 kids.
The Kindergarten class picture of 1955 of Mrs.Everingham is now in the Fort Erie Museum. The only problem is
I can only list about 5 names.
