Stephen's Story

my life basically started at waterford high school with after school activities playing on the high school team as a bench sitter. it was a hard bench to sit on but overall , high school was positive for me. left in the fall of 1963 to attend university of miami for 7 years obtaining two degrees, one in education, phy. ed, and a business degree graduating in jan. of 1970. during that time at the U, made the basketball team as a walk on as i could shoot for the next 3 years, never making it to the varsity. became a regular on the team , and offered a scholarship my 5th year as coach and manager of the freshmen team. eventually graduated and attended graduate school in arizona at thunderbird obtaining a graduate degree in foreign trade. worked in illinois for caterpillar, then city of peoria as a planner, and returning to ct. worked for short time in the fall of 1973 as a substitute for waterford, at cohanzie, clark lane, and the old high school. Obtained a position for the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture as an animal heath technician and compliance officer for the next 10 years, transferring to the Office of Federal Investigations in 1985 doing backgrounds for national security and federal employment. During the early 1990's, became the assistant softball coach at milford high for the next 10 years, and coached softball in the town of milford during the summers. Became the head coach at the milford middle school for 3 years coaching girls basketball on a volunteer basis. making a long story short left the govt. in 1996 and worked for a ...Expand for more
private company doing the same thing, U.S. Investigations , retiring in spring of 2004. since then, moved back to parents home in the quaker hill area, where my grand parents resided since 1910 from the Ukraine. Play a lot of golf, trips to miami and naples, mow grass, plant a garden, and had a black lab for years until she died of cancer, tragic death. Still alive and enjoy getting together for reunions with old high school friends. At one time , had a pilots license flying out of the old waterford airport. Grandkids, girls also keep me busy, 13, 10, and 7 living in norwich. thats it. one daughter in juneau, Alaska with an 7 year old grandson, and 5 year old granddaughter. Both daughters graduated from college, plymouth state, and univ. of montana, great kids and proud of them both for their accomplishments. In the late 60's obtained a student pilots license from Pilgrim Airlines and flew a cherokee 140 out of the now defunct Waterford airport, and the Groton airport. Also flew a Cessna 150 in Miami for a while but dropped flying as it became expensive, but enjoyed the time flying as an adventure in life. currently playing pickleball for the past 4 years and played in several tournaments, ct. masters, nutmeg classic, and new caneen open tourney in JAN. of 21, earning 4 gold medals for mixed doubles, and men's doubles, and unfortunately 2 silver medals one each for mixed doubles and men's doubles with the last tourney at the ct. masters in rock hill, ct. with one gold for mixed doubles, and a silver for men's doubles .
