UPDATE: The two boys are out of college now, both employed (and there was much rejoicing in the Smith house!). Daughter Liz begins her junior year at Stanford in September, returning to Palo Alto early that month to train with the swim team. Other swimming news: Laurie and I competed at the US Masters Swimming National Championships, I have posted a couple of photos. I placed 7th in the 200 breast, 10th in the 200 IM (only 11 entered that event, and one DQ'd, but it was still a "best time" for me), 13th in the 100 breast, 15th in the 50 fly and 15th in the 50 breast in my "age group." Former Olympian Gary Hall senior won most of the events in that bracket. My times continue to be about 50 seconds slower than my daughter over the 200 distance. Laurie did much bette...Expand for more
