Frozen in place. (American Bittern)
Say Ahhh! (Stellar Sea Lion)
Back At You (Northern Hawk Owl)
A northern hawk owl quickly turns his head to look at me while hunting at the edge of a meadow. The last one of these guys that I photographed on the island was back in 2009.

Hi,
Got this shot today at Boundary Bay near Ladner. This is the first long-eared owl I have photographed since 2007. Sorry about the composition. These guys like to burry themselves pretty deep in the underbrush.
Hi,
I hope you don't mind. I seem to be on a bit of an owl kick again. So much to choose from this time of the year. In this shot two short-eared owls joust over their hunting territory.
aerial ballet - Owl VS Harrier
Went to Boundary bay again this weekend to shoot some owls and ended up in the rain taking pictures of ring-necked pheasants. Who knew? (February 11, 2013).
Colleen and Greg's chocolate overload Easter cake. Had a piece of this and I was buzzing for a couple of hours :-). Contains chocolate cake, butterscotch pudding, Kitkat bars, chocolate icing and mini chocolate Easter eggs.
Just took this yesterday at Island View Beach near Victoria. It's a northern blue butterfly (I think?).
Watch your back! A harrier counter attacks after being harassed by a raven at the Nanaimo Estuary.
Lots of red-tailed hawk activiety out at the estuary lately. No short-eared owls yet though.
I thought that I otter post this so you know that I don't only take pictures of birds :-). Taken today at Nanaimo River Estuary.
Fish heads, fish heads, eat them up. Yum!
Lots of nice looking swans at the Big Qualicum Estuary yesterday. Kind of smelled like the penguin tank at the Stanley Park Zoo though :-).
A male Bufflehead Duck comes in for a landing at the Big Qualicum River Estuary.
Has anyone seen my other leg? A sandhill crane calls as it stands one-legged on the ice at Reifel Bird Sanctuary near Ladner B.C.
