Steve R.'s Story
Life
After high school, I went to North Carolina A&T State University, for about a year. Then I joined the United States Armed Forces (Army). I was married in 1984, my wife name is Joanne; we were married for 20 years, now divorced; (so sad) but life goes on, and we have to go on with it. And so I did,...I was remarried to a beautiful woman from Halem New York,...her name is Gwendolyn. I have 4 children, and one grandchild. I have two sons name (Damien), one is 26 years old from my first wife, and the other is 12 years old from my present wife. My daughter (Tiffany), granddaughter (Vatican). We just had a baby girl "Tatyana Hermain" she was born 12/7/06. 6 lbs 3 oz. God is good. I spend 20 years serving my country. While on active duty I managed to complete my college education with a B.S. in Criminal Justice from Troy State University.
God has bless me to be able to travel all over the world. Doing some things I thought I would never do; and going to places I thought I would never go. In 1989, while stationed in Panama, I starting preaching the Gospel of Christ, at the Balboa Church of Chris...Expand for more
t. In 1997,while I was stationed at Fort Stewart, Georgia. My mother (Julia Butler) has cancer. She was given 6 months to live. So I had to go to the Penagon in Washington D.C. and I was allowed to be reassigned closer to my mother, so I could take care of her; and make sure she got to her chemotherapy treatments. She battled with this cancer for 2 years, and she died in November 2000. Needless to say, "I miss her very much."
In October 2001, I retired from the U.S. Army here at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. I decided to stay here in Fayetteville, North Carolina since it was close to High Point.
While here in Fayetteville, last year I was sworn in by Cumberland County, to be a Guardian Ad Litem. We advocate for abused and neglected children. And because of this I am going to start school at Methodist College in the Fall 2002, and work on a degree in Social Work. But right now, I am just enjoying my retirement and raising my children and my grandchild; and preaching the Gospel of Christ.
I have been bless to achieve every goal that I have set for myself. "God has truly been good to me."
