Steve's Story
Life
Hi. I grew up in Idaho and Montana (Weippe, Powell, Bitterroot Valley, Stevensville, Victor, White Sulphur Springs). After high school graduation at White Sulphur Springs, I went to Montana State University and graduated with a BS in Electrical Engineering. My career took me to Collins Radio Company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, King Radio Company in Olathe, Kansas, and Iowa State University for a Ph.D. in electrical engineering. I am currently an emeritus associate professor of electrical and computer engineering at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa 50011. You can find additional information about me by using "Steve F. s ham radio (K0NJ), jazz trumpet, and historic trail research (Lewis and Clark Trail, Carroll Trail, Lolo Trail, Mullan Wagon Road, etc).
In the summers, I've been returning to Idaho and Montana to do historic trail research. Lots of camping and hiking in the mountains!

2013 Update
Retired in 2007 from Iowa State and still live in Ames, Iowa. Playing jazz trumpet 10-15 times a month. Lots of fun. My email is SFR(at)IASTATE.EDU
2014 Update
Still alive!! Turn 70 in April. Herding grandkids, 6 boys and 1 girl, all under 6!! Still long distance biking and hiking the mountains ever summer.
