Steve's Story
Life
After graduating from Sir Robert Borden in 1983 (I have the paper to prove it!) and working for the city of Nepean for a couple of years, I decided it was time to strike out in search of new adventures. I joined the Canadian Forces in 1985 as an Airframe Technician. After completing my basic training and trade training, I was posted to Greenwood NS, working with the CP 140 Aurora patrol aircraft. With them, I was able to travel extensively to England, Scotland, Iceland, Italy, France, Bermuda, as well as the US. I married in 1987 and my daughter Stacey was born in 1988. We Brady Bunched and left for Comox BC together in 1995 where I worked with 407 Sqn again lots of travel opportunities to Hawaii, San Diego, Italy, etc. After 10 years of living in west coast paradise and making many lifelong friends, we were told it was time to go! I had many wonderful choices (Cold Lake Alta, Winnipeg MB), but asked if there were any spots open in Ottawa. Lo and behold, we packed up and travelled across country with two angry teenagers and arrived in Barrhaven this past summer. It's been great getting to know Ottawa again, I work in NDHQ in a colourful neighborhood beside the Byward market and live 5 minutes from my mom and my older brother and his family. Life is good!
