Steven's Story

Life Retired from the Air Force after 20 years on Sep 1, 2001. It would be great to here from old friends. Military I joined the US Air Force in 1981 after spending a brief time at Palomar College. I enlisted in the field of Explosive Ordnance Disposal (Bomb Squad). I went to Lackland AFB, in San Antonio TX for basic training. I spent two months at the US Army Missile and Munitons School in Huntsville Alabama and then seven months at the Naval Ordnance School in Indian Head, Maryland to complete my training. My first duty assignment I was stationed in the Tactical Air Commad at Nellis AFB, Las Vegas, Nevada where I spent my time clearing ordnance off the bombing ranges. From there I went to the Pacific Air Forces to Osan AB, in the Republic of Korea for a year. I returned stateside back to the Tactical Air Command at Luke AFB, AZ, spending another four years clearing bombing ranges. I took an assigment to the US Air Forces in Europe at Spangdahlem AB, Germany right after Sadam invaded Kuwait. ovide Comfort(Kurdish Humanitarian Relief). Returning back stateside again I was stationed with the Air Force Special Operations Command at Hurlburt Field, FL. I rotated 5 times to Brindisi (San Vito AS), Italy in support of Bosnia under many different operations. (Provide Promise, Joint Endeavour, Joint Guard, Deny Flight). I was there when it was IFOR and then changed to SFOR. Due to my fathers failing health in 1998 I applied for a Humanitarian assignment from FL to the western US, where I returned to Luke AFB, AZ. I finished out 20 years of service in 2001, 10 days before 9/11. As an EOD Technician, throughout my career I supported the US Secret Service seven times in support of the President and Vice President of the US. ((VP-George Bush(1), VP-Dan Quayle(2), P-Bill Clinton(3), VP-Al Gore(1)). Medals: AF Commendation Medal (5), AF Achievement Medal (1), AF Good Conduct Medal (6), National Defense Service Medal (1), Southwest Asia Service Medal (1), Korean Service Medal (1), Armed Forces Service Medal (1), Humanitarian Service Medal (2), NATO Medal (1), Kuwait Liberation Medal (K)(1), and 8 other awards and decorations.
