Steven's Story
Life
After high school, I attended U of M-Flint for 3 1/2 semesters until I was finally sick of the Flint atmosphere (I hated winter)! My grandparents lived in AZ and, as a few may know, I was very close to them so I moved to sunny AZ to be near them. I went to work full time at Long's Drug Store (much to the dismay of my good friend Nick Siambis) and then took one semester at Arizona State (the year they beat Michigan in the Rose Bowl). Becoming disenchanted with the idea of teaching, I dropped out of college, went to work for Long's full time again and got married to a little Mexican sweetie! daughter in 1995. After six years of working in the drugstore, I finally matured enough to go back to college to pursue my dream of teaching mathematics. What can I say? Most of you who knew me knew it was in my blood. For eight years I have taught nearly every class in our curriculum but the gifted first year algebra students and the Advanced Placement, second year calculus students were my favorites. I love it!
