Sue's Story

Life Divorced in 83 after 18 years of marriage to Leroy North (Class-O-1961) and 2001 saw the end of a 19 year relationship. Disabled in 1999 when hit by a car while walking in the cross walk at 12th and Ocean in Seal Beach. I now spend my time helping friends and granddaughter. My Mom died Valentines Day 2006 at 90 years 6 months and 1 day! Before life caught up with me and I was forced to retire (vehicle vs ped and aging parents) I was an Asst. supervisor with Riverside County Department of Social Services. I hired on with DPSS in 1985 as a Typist Clerk, promoted to Rep Payee in Adult Protective Svs and in 1988 took the plunge into MED-ICAL ELEGIBILITY promoting thru the ranks until I became an ETIII & worked Hemet, Corona, Arlington & Tequesquite! I will be eternally grateful for my experiences with the Department because I learned to stand on my own two feet and learned there is nothing I cannot do. In the Mid 70's I played Woman's Football. Full gear tackle football and I also play Upper Division Womans Slo-Pitch Soft Ball and Co-Ed Soft Ball and was a 165 Book average Bowler until hurt Feb...Expand for more
ruary 11, 1999. In 2000 I bought a 55 Chevy Bel Air. SHE has a 350/350 eng/trani and is my DAILY DRIVER! Grandma's Ride! She was white over pale lavender with violet pearl ghost flames BUT was stolen in 2004 and given a total male make over MIDNIGHT BLUE. I have to admit she looked good midnight blue so after she was returned to me I had a better paint job applied but the same midnight blue! I can be seen racing on PCH (when it is safe that is) or driving my youngest granddaughter to McGaugh Elementary School. I love to attend car shows all over Southern California and still look for the humor in every situation. I love to laugh. I forgot to mention my two children. Jamie is 37 and married to my wonderful son-in-law Jay for almost 15 years now. Has no children and both are employed. Jamie worked for Riverside County DPSS as a Clerical Supervisor until 2006 when she went to work for the Harvest Church which she has attended for about 13 years now. They own their own home and reside in Riverside. Her brother (and my son) is in prison AGAIN! Mike is 39 and the father of my dear granddaughter.
