Susan Howland:  

I was born in New York City in May, 1954. I am the oldest of six kids and we grew up in Huntington off of West Neck Road. We went to St Patrick's on Main St. I remember "Hamburger Choo Choo" where a train would deliver your order from a track on the bar. :) I went to Southdown and I remember the twins Bernadette & Ann from Mrs Spoor's kindergarden. I was also good friends with Linda Halligan & Ruth Trimmer. I remember Mrs Fry in second grade. If you tried to hide sauerkrawt in your milk carton, she would make you eat it. YUCK! I went to Finley for 6th grade & had Mr. Marley. I was always in trouble for Mark Ellis passing my shoe around class etc. Simpson High was intense. I remember Joan always forgetting her French book. I remeber ID braclets & Brooks Vaughn in Spanish class & at my locker. I was in fine arts with Donna Adams and I had a hopeless crush on a tall, skinny redheaded boy who was in my homeroom. I think his name was Tom (Beasley)? I went to Our Lady of Mercy Academy for 10th-11th grade. I really liked the students, but it was a big adjustment to nuns, uniforms and no boys unless you went to Chaminade. I dated Jimmy Vendryes in 11th & 12th grade. My best friend was Anne Dunne & she dated John Dussel, who was much taller than she, & then Frank who ended up becoming a priest. We moved to Asheville, NC the summer before senior year. For one year I went to a small school with only 30 people in the graduating class. I remember being asked to says words like "water" & "coffee." I went to St. Mary's Junior College in Raleigh & graduated in 1974 with a degree in fine arts. I had tons of fun & thought St. Mary's friendships were the best. :) From 74-76 I majored in Psychology at NC State in Raleigh. I dated Pete Michenfelder who was on the soccer team with his twin brother Jack. To this day, I still can't tell them apart. :) I also hung out at Lamda Kai when "Tesh" was president.
