I only went to Sunset night school for a few months in 1976. I dropped out and started working at a donut shop. Two years later I decided to get my GED so I went to Vo-Tech to check it out. I was told that if I took a GED preparation program, I could graduate after 4 months with a high school diploma instead of just a GED certificate. What a deal! After graduating in 1978, I started working at Fairway Chevrolet running the shipping and receiving department. I stayed there for 3 years Then, in 1981 I was 22 and started working at the Showboat Casino as a keno writer. I was there for over 7 years and was terminated for a reason that I had no control over. From 1988 to 1997 I worked at various casinos writing or running keno. The last keno job I had was at Jerry's Nugget; I ended up getting laid off after only being there for 4 months. I was fed up with keno so I went for a job in the slot department at the El Cortez Casino [downtown]. I got the job and stayed there 11 years. Here's where my story gets cool!
