Susan's Story
Life
You may remember me as, Susan Wancowicz. I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician. I am married to a wonderful man, his name is Darryl. We met in August of 1995, and we got married on October 18, 1997. We do not have any children, because, we can't have children, but, we do have 1 dog, who is our "child". Our dog's name is Frances. My favorite thing to do, when I go back home is, spend time, with my niece and nephew, Ireland and Brady, my sister, Cheryl, and of course, my mother, Mary (as you may know, my Dad died on 10/5/2002). I can not see them often, but, when I do, I make the most of it. We live in Tennessee. We moved here on 10/31/2001. We moved to Johnson City, Tennessee, from Kingsport, Tennessee, on 4/30/02. I did work at Harford Memorial Hospital, in the Pharmacy for 14 years, before we moved to Tennessee. I work at The Johnson City Medical Center, in Johnson City, Tennessee. I started there, 11/12/01. I am a Chemotherapy Pharmacy Technician III. (I make the chemotherapy for our inpatients, and outpatients.) As of 12/19/06, at my regular 6 month checkup, my dentist found a "lesion" on my tongue. It was biopsied, and, we found out this past week (2/19/07), that I have moderate dysplasia, with...Expand for more
positive margins, which means it is precancerous. My oncologist told us, this type of dysplasia is very rare, especially since, I do not smoke, drink, chew tobacco, and my age. We are in the process of trying to get an appointment at Vanderbilt University, in Nashville for more surgery. My oncologist should know something about us going to Vanderbilt, early this coming week. Please make sure you have your regular dental checkups, mine may have saved my life. Susan P.S. We went to Vanderbilt Medical Center, last week. I have to have another MRI, on 3/21/07, to assess any changes, then back to Vanderbilt, on 4/16/07. We will have to go back and forth approximately every 6 weeks.
Workplace
My work biography is pretty simple. I worked at the Havre de Grace, MD, McDonald's, while I was in high school, and my first year of college, from 1984 until 1987. I worked for Harford Memorial Hospital, as a Pharmacy Technician, from October of 1987 until October, 2001. My husband and I moved, to Tennessee, in October of 2001, for my new job, at The Johnson City Medical Center. I have been at JCMC, for 5 1/2 years now (as of 3/07). I am a Certified Pharmacy Technician Level III. I make the chemotherapy for our patients.
