Suzanne's Story

I started school at University Place Elementary in Washington. We moved to Ramsey, NJ, the summer of 5th grade. I have many fond memories of Univ Place and have never forgotten all my friends there, especially Janet Smith and Joe Simpson I spent 6th thru 12th grade in Ramsey. I played clarinet, piano, violin, upright bass, and percussion throughout these years. I was a member of Regional and All-State Bands in New Jersey. I attended college in LA, CA, at Univ of Southern CA, starting out as a piano performance major. Changed my major a few times and graduated in 1978 with a BA in Social Psychology with minors in Math and Music! At USC I played tenor drum in the Trojan Marching Band, saxophone in Basketball Band, and clarinet in Concert Band. BEST experience of my life. We had SO MUCH FUN!!! After graduation I had a few different jobs in southern CA then settled in Santa Barbara, CA, for work. In 1987 I moved to Orangevale, outside Sacramento, CA, looking for a better job. Found a job at CA Dept of Corrections and moved to Ione, CA, to work in a prison. Yikes! I was the computer nerd. Did everything having to do with computers. Got hurt on the job and transferred to headquarters in Sacramento as the head of Information Security for CDC. Eventually I c...Expand for more
ouldn't continue so I was medically retired in 2002. They retrained me to do Real Estate but by then the market was falling out. My parents had since retired and moved to Amador County, CA, about an hour from me. I moved east of Sacramento to Placerville in the foothills of the Sierras. Lots of hiking, camping, fishing, swimming, everything I love! In 2011 my Dad fell ill with Alzheimer's. I quit my job to take care of him. He passed away in Dec of 2011. I'm still in Placerville, my Mom passed away in 2016 and my sister and her family now live in Florida. Over the years I've been fortunate enough to travel all over the world with various music groups and on my own. No moss growing here!!! I'm a die-hard USC Trojan football fan. I really like any kind of football! As far as music goes I like everything from Led Zeppelin to classical to Joe Bonamassa [killer blues guitar!]. But, PLEASE, no country music!!! I love the outdoors and hate housework. I like a little bit of everything! I have 2 big dogs that keep me company and we walk the trail whenever we can. I'm still a musician. I play clarinet in the Sacramento Symphonic Winds, the Sierra Nevada Winds Orchestra, the Fair Oaks Woodwind Quintet, the Sierra Symphony, and several clarinet quartets/quintets.
