Sylvia's Story
Life
Powwow date is September 26 & 27, 2009 in Odessa where I will be a vendor, so much fun. It renews me spiritually. If anyone is interested in the location or other info let me know it is open to the public, everyone is welcome. In the evening I play a few games in CLUB POGO, this is my relaxation to unwind from the day. We are remodeling our VFW Post 4149 in fact several rooms are gone. Hopefully this spring will be doing some of the landscaping from plants from my years. All desert stuff that needs little water and where the lizards, horny toads and snakes can hide. Oh yeah, found a baby snake on my front porch a few nights ago - about 6 inches long, a baby bull snake. No I am no longer afraid of snakes, but I am respectful of them.
School
At Whittier School when I was in the 2nd grade we have a school program. The entertainment was a magician. For one of his dumb tricks he called my self and another little girl, whose name was Virg...Expand for more
ie on stage. We were both shy. The horrible man had us hold a wire box and while we were holding it made it disappear. Everyone in school laughed - except Virgie and I. Don't know about her, but I have not like magicians since then. Except David Copperfield of course, but he is different. He is pretty.
Military
I have so many stories of the military. Basic training was hard of course and we really had not true rest period. When we had so called rest we were suppose to sit down and write letters home to our families. When they had nothing else for us to do they sent us out to picke up rocks. I swear San Antonio grows rocks. Just about every WAF barracks had their Flight Number made from rocks and as we picked up rocks those numbers grew in size until they were four feet in height. Those of you who can remember it the B-36 use to fly over Lackland since Kelly AFB was just across a road so they kept saying. I for one never saw that road.
