Sy's Story

Life OK, first...check out my CD on my website (I can't include the website address because of Classmates community standards). Just Google "Sy Smith" or go to CDbaby. It's only $12.99, it's really good (according to Essence Magazine, Billboard, Jointz Mag, Philadelphia Weekly just to name a few) and if you're any kind of artist, it might just motivate you to follow your own dreams! Now...Mostly everyone now calls me Sy, but it's me, Syretha Smith. After earning a B.S. in Psychology from Howard University, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in entertainment (namely music). I am working as a singer/songwriter and sometimes...Expand for more
actress (which trips me out a bit). I was nominated for an Emmy in 2001 for co-writing the title track to an HBO movie called Dancing in September (which I also performed). I've had a 5 season run on Ally McBeal as an Ikette (one of the singers who backs Vonda Shepherd). If you watched the series "Soul Food" in 2001, then you may have heard me singing the theme song with Al Green. I've done several commercials and I'm always on TV or on tour singing with someone. I've been truly blessed; simple as that. I miss my folks from PG so please feel free to reach out to me via e-mail (my e-mail address is on my website). Peace! --Sy
