Tami's Story
Hi Erin and anyone else who might want to know what I've been up to. I met my husband Jim in my senior year. He worked with my mom at Vons Bakery. We had horses in common. He lived in Chino with his parents and worked in El Monte. Once we started dating we wre pretty inseparable. He did'nt leave to go home every night until about 11:00. Then he had to be at work by 6:30 AM. His parents sold his horse because he was always with me and my horses. We got engaged while I was still a senior. After high school I went to Rio Hondo for 2 years for dental assisting and got my AS degree. We married in April 1979. We had a nice wedding. After Rio I went to work for an Orthodontist. I really liked my job. After we had our first child I decided that I wanted to stay home and take care of him. I did'nt want someone else doing it for me. We had our first 4 kids within 51/2 years. Jim has always been the best dad. He has always helped with everything. I started doing child care a little while after our first baby. At first it was mainly for family and friends. Then it was for a friend of a friend. I did this full time until we had number 5. Then I did it during holiday breaks from school and summer. Now the two of us spend 24/7 together, just taking care of our 4 younger ones. They now are 16, 14, 9 and 7. We love being together. The two of love to go out while kids are in school. We like going to Disneyland or antique stores or what ever. We love spending time with our kids too. I'm the leader for our 9 year olds girl scout troop and asst. leader with the older girls. We have a lot of ...Expand for more
fun. We love our animals. We just got a new poodle puppy, like we really need another dog. We have cats and birds and 2 snakes. I've had one snake for 16 years. I had Tarantulas for many years. I don't have any right now because they all died. One of my favorites was my Salmon Pink Bird Eater. I plan on getting more soon.As for kids -- James is 28 and works at Rio Hondo. He has a website for tattoos. He has written a poem book and will be going to New York in the fall for it. Tara is 27 and is a lifeguard and swim teacher. She is interested in law enforcement. Joseph is 24 and works in construction. He tends to spoil his little brother and sister a lot. Justin is 23 and is in a band. They have played at a few different places and have done recording in a studio. They are good and hopefully will go somewhere. Terena is 16 and a good student. She is a very persistent girl. She volunteers at Downey hospital and does home schooling. She has all honors classes for next year. Toriana is 14 and has an ornery side to her. She can either be really sweet and helpful or the opposite. She loves animals. Talise is 9 and does well in school. Last year she scored a 600 on her state testing. She loves math and facts about anything. She loves animals also. Jordyn is 7 and likes animals although they don't exactly like him. He's learning to play different sports and likes to play video games which brother Joseph spoils him with. He's a good kid. None of our kids are married yet. We don't have any grandkids, which is fine with us for now since we like to spend time alone. And, that's about it.
