Tammie's Story
After graduation I quickly finished up my hours at beauty school and went to work. I married soon after and started my family. I have two sons, Timothy and Adam Denny. I did hair here, there, and elsewhere like every other hairdresser I know. My kids thought all mom's gave perms and cut hair in the kitchen!
I married again (I'm no quitter!) in 1997. We left on our honeymoon the next day in an old Winnebago that resembled a big shoe box. We were just going not really making any plans. We got down to Florence Oregon on the first night and my brand new husband had a heart attack. ( I have had to endure every kind of remark you can think of.) He stayed in the ICU for 4 days before they would let me take him home. At this point I really wished I had learned to drive the shoebox. We came back home and he recuperated. He later had a angioplasty and is fine now.
We have had a great life. He is retired from the Camas paper-mill after 34 years as a pipe-fitter. I contracted a hair salon at a local retirement home and stopped working in 2003. I was tired of standing on my feet 8 hours a day. My husband has...Expand for more
a wonderful daughter that I am proud to be the step mother of. My oldest son Tim is an audio engineer. He is the guy with the headset sitting at the mixer board you see at concerts and sports events. He regularly works for the Trail Blazers and Oregon State football and basketball. My younger son Adam is married and is expecting his first child any time now. He is still in college. My step daughter Kristina, is also married and just graduated from college a couple of weeks ago. She is hoping to teach 1st grade.
My husband Ray and I are working on remodeling a house to stay in for many years, because we are TOO OLD to ever do this again! We don't have our shoe box anymore, we now have a big Trailways bus that is now converted into a motor home. I fully believe Ray loves this thing more than he loves me. He tried to con me into living on the road like gypsies. Didn't work, I have a grandchild coming! But we still plan on some extensive traveling. I call the bus "The Cramalot Inn" because we have everything you can ever imagine in there.
So, life is good and we intend to live it to the fullest!
