Tania's Story
Life
I am the Math/Science Coordinator at Fairlawn Elementary, where I have been for the past 4 years. I am married to a wonderful man (Albert) for almost 13 years and have 3 beautiful children, Alexa,10, Alberto, 7, and Angelina,6. We spend most of our time doing homework and worrying about the future like everyone else, except in the summers when we can relax. (My husband is also a teacher so vacations are great!) Life is good and I am blessed to be surrounded by my family and friends!
School
I would have to say that the teacher that inspired me the most was my English and Creative Writing teacher, Mr. Richey. That in itself is pretty ironic since he almost went into cardiac arrest when I told him I was going to be a teacher. He was completely against the idea! And meanwhile, I wanted to inspire students the way he inspired me... I guess he imagined me somewhere in the literary world, just because I loved writing so much. Hang on, Mr. Richey, there's ho...Expand for more
pe for me yet, look at JK Rowling!
College
I went to FIU so there were no roommates or pledging. All I did was work my butt off and go to school!
Workplace
I started out working in Luria's on 49th street. I then went on to work at Consolidated Bank for many years. I started college and then worked at Tropical Telco Federal Credit Union. My first permanent teaching job was at North Hialeah Elementary, just a few blocks away from Hialeah High. I taught there for almost ten years (about a month shy) as a spanish teacher and first grade teacher. By then I already lived in Kendall and the commute was horrible so I transferred to Fairlawn Elementary where I have been for the past 4 years. I started half a year teaching fifth grade, then taught third grade for two years, and am now entering my second year as Math/Science Coordinator. I am very happy at my school, the teachers are all wonderful. I love my school so much that my three kids attend there as well!
