Tania's Story
Life
I attended Music Conservatory as planned, completing my Bachelor of Music in 1987. I had double-majored in psychology, and went on to receive my Masters Degree in psychology in 1988. I was accepted into a Doctoral Program in psychology in San Diego, CA and in the summer of 1988, I drove my stuff across the country and moved to California. I lived in San Diego for 9 years, working in the mental health field, was married AND divorced (1990-96), no kids, and received my doctorate in 1996. My gift to myself after completing my Doctorate was 9 months off and living-aboard/sailing around Southern CA and Mexico, and climbing Mt. Whitney. I have been working as a Clinical Psychologist for years, in Ventura for several years, and two years in the Arctic in Alaska in a tiny Native village before returning to California, my home. r the real estate market to come back before selling our house to get our "dream" house. I have my own private practice six blocks from the beach and just love it. I still play music of course, in bands sometimes, but also just myself, and teach. I've been a motorcycle rider (no, not Harley's!) since 1995, and am exclusively two-wheeled most of the time. :-)Still backpacking and sailing!! Since 2006, I have been racing (road) motorcycles (#85, #85R, #50 respectively) in WSMC, AFM and WERA West series. I got my first trophy in November 2007 at a race in Vegas (2nd place), not bad for an old lady!! In 2008, I started a non-profit team to support the few women (like me) that race motorcycles to give us better sponsorship and support.
In 2007, I quit working for other people and opened my own private practice, which is now thriving. I have interns I train who work out of my office also, and I plan to retire from this in the next 10 years and move on to a new career.
