Tanya's Story
Life
Currently living in Atlanta, I bought a home last year and I have a great boyfriend. Loving life!
After graduating from American U. in 1997, I went to Venezuela to teach English for a year. I went back home working in South Florida as a Spanish abstractor/translator for a few years. I lived in Nicaragua as a missionary in 2001-02. I am the proud Aunt of two beautiful children, both born to my only brother, Arbie (you might remember him, B.A. Class of 91').
I've been to Nicaragua on mission trips with my church, but this was the first time I stayed here in Nicaragua for an extended term. As He never fails, God has richly blessed my life. I'd love to hear from you guys!!:)
School
School was so enriching for me. Those of you who knew me well knew that I was obsessed with three things - French class (love you, Mrs Forsyth!), the BAExpress newspaper, and the Gospel Choir we pulled together!! And like all high school girls, I had the biggest crush on a certain person, but h...Expand for more
e'll never know!! (LOL) What a year....and we had so much fun. It was a great time...
College
I went out of state for school to American University. What a time. I began June 2004 with the minority summer program and I had the funniest roommate. I remember making jokes of the Campus Store bags we used to help her barf every weekend when she got too drunk, I remember my friends in the LASO group (hey chicas!), participating in activities with the Multicultural Office, eating lunch at Mary Graydon center, and of course, being an R.A. at Hughes Hall. Loved IT!
Workplace
Been involved in lots of cool things, in the States and abroad - I'm grateful for each experience. Currently working full-time in corporate relations for Georgia Perimeter College, the best two-year institution in Georgia! Up until the beginning of 2007, I was working in partnership development at the CDC, but I wanted something more local and community-focused, so I made a permanent change -- and I'm loving it. :)
