Tanya's Story
Life
I'm living in sunny Los Angeles, where I have my own music production company, Geaux Crazy Productions. (Me in L.A., in show biz...not much of a surprise there, huh?) One of my favorite gigs is doing fan promotions for the rock band Styx, which has led to me writing a book about the band and my adventures with them. Recently, the band awarded me with my own platinum album award, which made my...career! I'm absolutely over the moon with excitement about having such a spectacular item to hang in my office.
I'm also a freelance writer, specializing in music and in science and health. I've won Presidential Fitness Awards for Aerobics, Weight Training, Cycling, Hiking and General Fitness. I am currently training to be a public speaker for Cushing's Disease.
Politics is still a passion for me, and I serve as an election judge for the state of California.
My husband Johnny and I travel as much as possible, and so far, some of my favorite destinations are New York City and London. We love spending time in San Francisco and driving along the beautiful California coast. Just living here in the Los Angeles area is an adventure, and I enjoy every minute of it.
I have to admit that I still have stars in my eyes. We attend a lot of industry events, and have been lucky enough to meet some of the people we admire most. One thing that pleases me to no end is that after all these years, the magic is still there for me. When I look across at the Hollywood sign on clear days, or drive down the sparkling roads of Hollywood (yes, the road actually glitters) at night, I still get a thrill. I used to endure some teasing about my near-obsession with it, but I always believed that if you don't have a dream, you can't have one come true.
I've been married since 1987 to Johnny Brooks, a graduate of Central High in Baton Rouge. We still come home to Bato...Expand for more
n Rouge to visit occasionally, so we can have some great food and see an LSU game!
We live in our pink house ("Little pink houses for you and me....") with our two dogs and two cats.
OK, now on to the "story ideas" that are listed here...
"Where have you lived? Why did you move?"
We moved to California in 1989, mostly for job opportunities, and because I'd wanted to live here since I was six years old.
"What's the wildest thing you ever did in school?"
A LOT of things come to mind, but one of my favorites was when Janie, Phyllis, Terry and I did King Tut. One of the funniest was when Lori and I decided to cut our last class...and then ran out of gas IN FRONT OF THE SCHOOL. So much for being sneaky.
"What happened to your first crush?"
I have no idea...but then, I was two at the time. But if you mean Donny Osmond, he's still performing!
"How do you hope old friends remember you?"
As slightly more sane and dignified than I really was.
"To be truly happy, you would be where, doing what, with whom?"
I'm truly happy NOW!
"Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. What's been your biggest surprise?"
I thought I'd have children, but that hasn't worked out. Since we have no kids of our own, Johnny and I spoil our nieces and nephews, plus we get to act like kids ourselves a lot of the time.
In a lot of ways, life has turned out much the way that I thought it would. When I was 10, I believed that I'd eventually move to Los Angeles and do something in the entertainment field and here I am! I'm not the editor of Tiger Beat, as I once dreamed of being, but hey, I've gotten to meet those teen idols that used to make my heart pound! I could lie and say that now I'm so cool that it's no big deal, but the truth is that I still blush and get flustered in the presence of the cute boys whose faces adorned my bedroom walls.
Life is good!
