Life
Following the suggested topics, here...
My Life
Overall, quite happy and content :-) Being, me, though, of course, always fighting to try and change things in the world... finally learning to relax about a bunch of things, though ;-)
My Spouse
(Nerdy meeting alert! ;-) )
At "meet who you've been talking with all these months" parties, for Farside members [pre-Internet computer group], at the end of Simon Fraser University semesters throughout 1988 and 1989.
We've been together since late summer 1989, and plan on being together forever :-) We've very much in love :-) (Yeah, I know; sappy. There's one proof I really wrote this ;-) )
My dude worked ALL the time for the first 14 or so years we were together (people kept thinking that I made him up ;-) ) , and now we're reaping the benefits of him living at work for 17 years. He hangs at home with me now, so we're together all the time, which TOTALLY rocks :-) We're more in love than ever :-)
At some point, he might develop his hobby of woodworking into a furniture-making career.
My House
I'm lucky enough to live in a nice house next to a forest in Surrey, on the Semiahmoo Penninsula. I like having tall ceilings and fairly open rooms; that helps a LOT on the days when I'm stuck at home and can't do anything, due to my neuro-muscular disease (which is SLOWLY going more and more into remission; have to be VERY careful, though; when I do too much, it rears up with a vengance).
College
...Expand for more
Went to SFU full-time 1st year after high school. MEGA family problems kept me rather distracted, so worse grades of whole Univer. experience. Switched to part-time, 'cause had to work full-time to help support mom & sister for a while; kept going part-time until muscle disease got too bad in 1997, and had to quit. ALMOST finished degree, minoring in Criminology, Psychology and Sociology. Probably will finish studies when muscle disease goes into remission enough :-) (Also have counsellor and other training with OPTions for Sexual Health.)
Workplace
Had to work full-time after 1st year of University, to help support my mother and sister (while keeping part-time studies @ SFU). Have been a (volunteer) News Director @ a radio station, a (volunteer) Debating/Public Speaking Coach @ Burnaby North Secondary (10 years), a Regional Coordinator for the Debate & Speech Association of B.C. (um, 2 or 3 years; temp. forgetting!), a Legal Secretary (less than one year, as promoted to next one) in Tax and Business Law, a Legal Assistant (4+ years) in Tax and Business Law (inclu. Mergers & Acquisitions), a part-time Police Officer (almost 3 years), and a Counsellor and Medical Assistant with OPTions for Sexual Health (current). Stupid muscle disease that showed up in the 90's rather messed things up, but somewhat in remission now, so able to do (volunteer) part-time OPTions for Sexual Health work :-) (Oh: Dabbled in Tupperware rep. work and Creative Memories albums rep. work.)
