Ted's Story

Graduated from DHS and promptly left So. Illinois, never been back for more than a week or so at a time. Not much choice then except to volunteer or be drafted so I joined the Navy. First service school to be an FT(M) or Fire Control Tech, Missile, then off to sea. Nothing was ever quite as good as the duty aboard the ol' Springfield! I loved that ship and being stationed in France. I am now in Georgia, got out of the Navy, went to work for Delta and stayed 36 years, picked up a couple of college degrees and then retired, stayed retired for some 6 months then went back to work as ...Expand for more
a contractor/consultant, now work as much or as little as I like. Was married for 25 years to my best friend and sweetheart, had a son and a daughter, then lost her to leukemia. Now remarried, have five grandkids and do pretty much as I please, as long as it pleases my wife! Get to fish and hunt places I thought I could only dream of, been to AK fishing each year for twenty something years - dearly love Alaska. Someday I hope to have a place on the GA or SC coast, looking for more time to use my big boat, a 20' SeaFox. Still have fish to catch and ducks to shoot so I have to stay busy!

Couple from Situk River, Alaska
I've been out of pocket and mostly off line for past 12 days. We celebrated 25 years and I can say I didn't miss you a bit!
See these flowers growing wild in the Ozarks of So Illinois and wondering if anyone knows what they are? And can they be cultivated or domesticated back to Georgia?

Starting to clear up - you can see the foothills near Mt St Elias now.

Breakfast, last morning in Alaska. Eat up, fellows, eat up - long plane ride ahead of us. As you can see, we eat well while in Alaska! Two kinds of sausages, bacon, scrambled eggs, grits, hot biscuits, jelly - all low fat
Sill not clear but our best view of Mt St Elias 2009.
Lee Curry and Marvin Dawkins - our rookies, acting like they have never caught a salmon before.
Some people cannot follow directions! We are fishing for salmon, Hugh, not for trout - pay attention!
Leroy himself, in person - wants to know why you have not caught him a fish yet?
Couple of silvers from the Situk River.
Rough weather out in the bay, all the boats are laid up to wait out the storm.

Greetings from deep in the woods of Greene Co. Absolutely wonderful to be there when the sun comes up and everything begins to awake and sing, flowers in bloom with all the wonderful smells - life is good!
Gray skies, rough weather and no one catching any fish sitting in the harbor.
Rain, rain and more rain plus 25 MPH wind.
LeRoy was here - our resident 'bad-boy', fish-stealing bear!
Old steam locomotive from the somewhat mysterious Yakutat and Southern Railroad - its principle commodity being salmon in season. More at http://www.yakutat-southern.org/historypage2.html
Beautiful when you have the opportunity to see it! I made three trips up before I ever saw Mt St Elias. This year we were able to only see portions of the mountain range - I'll post up some current pics as soon as possible.
