Teresa's Story

CONTACT: You can find me on Facebook way too much, and I am sometimes on MySpace. I twitter also. My username everywhere is okelleyt. Life Born in West Germany, raised in El Paso, TX for 15 years, then moved to San Antonio in 1997. Although I REALLY missed Andress High and all my buddies, I learned a lot by moving. I fell in love, dating one man for over 4 years, and found that I need to take of myself before dedicating me to someone else. I also found that working full time and paying bills is a HUGE part of growing up :( But, the VW New Beetle was great :D. And now, I have a 4-door Saturn Ion 2, which is nice - back to automatic for me... Working for large companies has really expanded my thinking about employment! I volunteered at a cool coffee shop called Blend (blendelicious is a commercial site that has closed) and enjoyed the challenge of coffee and tea service. Palo Alto College was fun, and I am really enjoyed the real-world knowledge and skills I learned from Texas A & M University - Kingsville in San Antonio. There is nothing quite like being a part of a growing new thing! I am just glad to have earned that all-important piece of paper called a diploma!! I am now a BBA in Business Management, and a member of Delta Mu Delta! I am now in a long-term relationship with my other-half, Abraham (Abe). He's a in a band called When Good Friends Become Strangers and they play great music! They released a 4-track EP, and can be heard on MySpace, Facebook, and iTunes. College Although I stayed in San Antonio to live with my parents (at least for a short time) while earning my degree, I have still found time to have fun at school. While attending Palo Alto College, I was elected into the Student Government. The first year, I served as Secretary of Public Relations. My term was for the Spring Semester,...Expand for more
and I think we did well to get the information out there about an student organization that works with the faculty and administration for the students. My second term was for the entire school year as Secretary of Business and Treasury. My position had a long name, and the responsibility to go with it. My job was to take the notes for all the meetings, make those notes available to all the students, take attendance for all the meetings and verify the balance of the account. We tried to make money in a fund-raiser during the Fiesta Official event called PACFest, but to no avail. 3 of us went on a trip to a State Convention of the Junior College Student Government Associations, and that was a blast. Unfortunately, all 3 of us transfered the next year, and could not continue the efforts that were started. It was a real life lesson that what may be important one year may not be important the next. I finished my degree with Texas A&M University - Kingsville in San Antonio to complete my Bachelor's Of Arts in Business Management. I am now pursing my MBA with University of Phoenix online. It is the foundation of my life-long goal to tell people what to do. Since I'm so good at telling people what to do for free, I thought it might be nice to get paid for it :P Seriously, I believe that my choice to attend TAMUK-SA was well made. The tutition was less than most of the alternative choices, and the professors really care about providing a qualty education. They also believe in providing real world experience. I know my investment will be well used. Workplace Well, I've moved up... Starting in the entry-level position of Customer Care Specialist, had moved into the entry-level claim handling position for Automobile claims, and am now in the 1st party injury/medical payments arena. It's going to get interesting...
