Teresa's Story
I have been working in the medical field since getting married in 1973. Starting at Camden Clark Hospital as a nursing secretary I went on to continue my education to become an LPN then RN, working in critical care, maternity and surgery. I left there in 1997 (23 years) after getting my BSN and went to Ohio Valley College (5 years) as the school nurse and adjunct instructor. In 2000 I began working at St. Josephs Hospital in surgery and later in education as the diabetic educator. Downsizing in 1/07 caused me to look for other work (after all I'm too young to retire!) and I found a "dream" job! I'm a clinical instructor (maternity) at Hocking College (Nelsonville, OH) teaching at CCMH on Mon and Tues, only...Expand for more
driving to campus on Wednesday where I teach skills lab and freshman orientation. I'm now in "semi-retirement" with every Thurs and Fri off and a week off every 3 months. My students are great and the instructors that I work with couldn't be better.
My husband has been retired since 2002 when O.Ames plant #2 was closed. Fortunately he had 35 years seniority where he could start drawing on his pension.
Our son, Eric, graduated from DeVry in 1999 with a BS in EET, after receiving a full tuition scholarship. and is working in the Cleveland area.
Daughter Staci, graduated from Freed-Hardeman University in 2003 with a BS in Communications/Public Relations and is living in Nashville.
