Terri's Story
Hello, friends.
Well, I have some news . . . I last updated this profile shortly before our 20-year high school reunion, so a lot has happened since then. Kevin and I got married on April 29, 2006, and spent 3 weeks in Hawaii for our honeymoon. We decided not to go to Australia because the plane ride was just too long for my taste after the excitement of the wedding, so we opted for half the distance and twice the beaches. It was tough to come back from there, believe me! But we did, vowing to return soon, and then we settled into the house I bought about 5 years ago, and we're still here.
In the meantime, Kevin and I have been actively involved with the Mid Atlantic Great Dane Rescue League, fostering abused and neglected dogs until they find their forever homes. You may remember that I had a Great Dane, Pongo, (the greatest dog ever!) for 11 years until she died in 2005, and since then we've been fostering for the rescue. One of these days we'll probably adopt our own pup, but not just yet, because . . .
Our biggest recent news is that we just had a baby! I gave birth to a baby girl on Au...Expand for more
gust 28, 2008, after 29 hours in labor and a C-section. It was a grueling day, but well worth it, as our daughter, Kyra Nicole, is healthy and happy and beautiful. She was 8 pounds, 6 ounces and 22 inches long, and she's growing fast, so it looks like she'll be tall like her dad, rather than a shortie like me. She has a full head of hair and is quite beautiful, although it's possible that I may be a little biased about it. :-)
For now I am staying at home full-time, at least until the end of the year. After that I'll have to decide whether to continue my law practice (unlikely), go into another line of work (I was more than ready for a change anyway), or stay at home with Kyra a while longer. It's too soon to predict what I'll want to do at this point, since I've only been doing this "stay-at-home-mom" thing for about 3 weeks. (Boy is it a change from running a law practice!) Right now I'm just focusing on enjoying our daughter and trying to get some much-needed sleep!
Well, that's the big news. Hope all is well with my classmates, and would love to hear from you at some point.
