Terry's Story

Life Hi to whomever is reading this. Thanks for stopping by. If you are here, you must be courious as to what I have been up to. So, here goes, abridged version. You want more details than this, then we gotta talk :) After high school, I just kind of partied most of the time. Was still dating Alan Freed, who I started junior year after a certain someone dumped me (yeah, you know who you are, but it's ok, now). We married in 82, have 3 great kids (David 26, Randy 24, and Jessica 18) and then after 18 years, we divorced. I met my second husband Paul Carrocci, (who has 2 kids Mellissa 25 & Paul 24, and they wonderful also) when we worked at Able. He was going through a divorce too, so we became friends, then started dating, then he was going to move back to OH where he was from and since my kids were mostly grown, I decided to tag along. It was beautiful up there, big trees, mountains, and you can actually SEE the seasons change. He had been a truck driver for 12 years, so we decided to go over the road. We loved seeing the country! I even got my CDL and drove too. In 02 he went local since his mom was in bad health and I started working for TSA (yeah, I was one of those screeners you hate) at the Pittsburgh Int Airport where I tore my rotator cuff and 4 years and 3 surgeries, it's never been the same. Paul passed away August 10, 2006, and seeing that I didn't have any real family in OH, I came back here. So here I am back in TX after a 6 year absence. Other than my kids and parents, I don't have any friends around here anymore. So, if you remember me, message me. It would be great to talk about "back in the day". posted during the holidays back in 2006. UPDATE: JULY 2008 - Thanks to Classmates, I have found some really old good friends...or should I say really good old friends. I spent many a sleepless lonely night going through junior high annuals and left lots of people messages. In May of 2007, Mr. "Dumped me in High School" saw the message that I had left him in JANUARY 07 and he wrote me back. Through Jimmy I found my Bestest Friend Cathy Bruce (now Withers) and the girls are back again...less the wild party ways of course. It's really great to have my first 'real' love and my best friend back in my life again. And Jimmy also kept up with Brad Newnham, another old friend of mine and Cathy's and he called him one night and Brad came over to Jimmy's house and it was like 30 years had never gone by. The Rat Pack, as Brad called us, was back together. Another "slow to respond" friend was Jeff Marler. I left him a message June 07 and low and behold July 08 he checked his classmates page. (I seem to remember you being a little 'quicker' in your coraspondance in junior high, Jeff! And yes, I still have note...Expand for more
s that you gave me at Carter). UPDATE: April 22, 2009 - Jimmy and I got married a few days ago. April 18th. What started out in high school, took 31 years to finally happen. It's so funny, I used to practice writing Terry Lucas all the time when I was 16. Today I got my drivers license and SS card all changed and now I can officially sign my name like that. Our wedding was incredible! Cathy was my matron of honor and Brad was Jimmy's best man. All the original cast just 31 years later. School Ok, biggest crush. That is easy seeing I only dated two guys in high school. Those lucky men were Jimmy Lucas and Alan Freed. Alan first noticed me in drivers ed because Jimmy would walk me to class and we would lean against the wall and kiss. You remember what it was like back then. Well he noticed when Jimmy and I stopped making out in the hall and started talking to me. He confessed at a later time that he enjoyed walking behind me coming into the school from the drivers ed simulators. We dated on and off since junior year and four years later got married. Teachers - I was to much into rebelling from school to have an inspirational teacher, so I'll skip that. Do it again - I probably would do 80% exactly the same if given the chance, seeing things pretty much worked out OK. Funny story - I don't know if a certain someone will agree with the funny part. Anyone remember Western Day? Remember when Kippy Smith brought a gun to school and actually got shot by it in the cafeteria? Like I said, funny now, not at the time. Most of my funny stories about that time in my life, did not occur at school. Just with school friends. The freaks vs the socials. Those were the days. College After being a stay at home mom to the kids and a bookkeeper/secretary for Alan's painting business, I went back to school. I had gotten a computer for our business and taught myself most things, but then with Jessica about to be out of kindergarten, I figured I needed to decide what I was going to do next. I went to TCJC after 18 years of no school. Not that I was the best student when I was in high school. I was there for the friends, not the knowledge. I got an Associate Degree in Computer Applications. The languages I studied were Turbo Pascal (name one program written in THAT language), C and COBOL. Yeah, think about it, it was 97 - 99, everyone thought the world was going to end because of all the COBOL code out there. I was going to help "save the world". Best thing that came out of college was being a role model for my boys that reminded me of ME in high school. David decided he liked 9th grade so much, he skipped his way into doing it twice. I graduated with a GPA of 3.80. It's amazing what you will do when you are PAYING FOR SCHOOL.
