AVALON HIGH SCHOOL REUNIONS!!! Usually held the first Sunday of every August, at Rose Barn in North Park, (Greater) Pittsburgh PA. [NOTE: In 2011 it will be held on Sunday, July 31 st!] All Avalon attendees, teachers, & grads, regardless of graduation year, are invited to attend this all day, annual event. Please bring your best stories & memorabilia, one guest and a covered dish or desert, and a cool beverage of your choice. A bag of ice would be helpful. This year's all classes reunion is on Sunday, July 31 st, 2011. Come & see who else is attending! Since we have one of the best, & largest shelters reserved in the park, this event is "rain or shine." Plenty of parking is available in the large parking lot, next to Rose Barn, and just across the road from the Boat House. AHS CLASS OF 1971 ALERT!; A 40 th year reunion is "on" for July 30, 2011, corresponding with the annual Rose Barn event. It wil be an informal two day event, according to Jeff Gilg. North Park picnic at Rose Barn with all classes, the following day, Sunday, July 31 st. FLASHBACK: AVALON HIGH SCHOOL REUNION 2001; 10 classes of Avalon H S re-united on Labor Day Weekend, 2001. Included were the Avalon H S classes of '66, '67, '68, '69, '70, '71, '72, '73, '74, '75, '76 (the final year of Avalon Schools, before becoming the Northgate School District) Details: Cost for the 2001 weekend was $45 per person. Included Sat dinner/dance (open bar / d.j.) at Anthony's Lounge, Rt 65, on 9/1/2001, 7PM/1AM. Sunday's picnic was at Lakeview Grove, North Park. ALL AVALON FACULTY, SCHOOL ATTENDEES, GRADS & THEIR FAMILIES WERE WELCOME to join us at the PICNIC Sept 2nd. Everyone brought either a covered dish, dessert, or cash donation. All food & drinks were provided. This was just before that infamous day: 9/11/2001. The Avalon H S Class of 1964 held "back to back" reunions at the Avalon Park shelterhouse during the summers of 2004 & 2005, and all Avalon grads, friends, faculty & attendees were invited to attend both of these events. Since then, the events have grown, and are now held annually at Rose Barn in North Park. ** MY PERSONAL BIO: Visited Disneyland in Anaheim, CA - 1957. Vacationed - Yellowstone Nat'l Park - 1960. Rocky Mtn. Nat'l Park, CO - 1964 & 1971. Michigan in 1962 and 1970. Washington, DC - 1966. Nags Head, NC - August, 1969 (So, I missed "Woodstock").
