WELL, GOT MY DRAFT NOTICE AT 22YRS OF AGE, AS I RECALL IF YOU GOT PAST 23 YOU DIDN'T HAVE TO GO. SO I RAN DOWN & JOINED THE AIR FORCE. I WAS DELAYED FOR A DAY GOING TO BASIC AT LACKLAND TEXAS. THE NEXT DAY I ARRIVED IN DALLAS & HAD TO WAIT FOR A CONNECTING FLIGHT TO LACKLAND- the date was nov 20 , 1963! yes, i was in dallas 12 hrs before kennedy was shot & was very, restless. i froze on boarding my 2nd plane the stewardess was shaking my arm & asking me if i was alright. i said yeah. i had a vision of jfk getting off an airplane for the very last time. & imagine my state of being the next day when they called out the enitre base to announce the president was dead. well we went to iran to tour the next year.. i got in 1968 & didn't want any more military life. so there i was trying get work & really hadn't done much of anything; military stuff doesn't count too much w civilian employers. so i went to college on the gi bill . moved to calif & worked as an accountant, & played piano all over la on week-ends' got tired of la & came back to dayton to bury the rest of my family they all passed within a few mos of each other. ...Expand for more
