Thomas's Story
There's a lot to what I've been up to since 1980. I have been asked to write a book, and currently doing so, time permitting. But here's the basic outline:
- Left USA in 1981 to travel the world. I ended up living in Japan and, for a while, Hongkong for 28 years total. I visited many other countries while based there, often at interesting times.
- Worked in international trade, political strategy, public relations, and broadcast journalism (very prominent on radio in the 1990s). Ended up being, and to an extent still am, a writer when it's all said and done. Lots of interesting experiences and adventures as a journalist/foreign correspondent during the 1990s.
- Was an avid mountain climber in my 20s and 30s. Alpine. Both winter and summer. Also crewed a tall ship/yacht in the Pac...Expand for more
ific for some years. Still love the great outdoors and get away to the forest and mountains as often as possible.
- Married a couple of times. Two children. Both boys. Currently single.
- Returned to the US in 2009 after the world economy went to hell (long story there). First lived in DC. Now living in Northern Virginia.
- Presently, I work in insurance, security services, and am a licensed private investigator. But I still, love writing and (real) journalism. And am still an avid reader and don't own a TV.
- Hobbies are (currently) reading, martial arts and weapons training, cooking, photography, poetry, hunting, fishing, and all sorts of out-doors stuff. Travel has been off the table for a few years, but I hope things in the world allow me to get back to that in the near future.
