Thomas's Story
Life has been good to me.
I have a job that allows me some freedom to do what I want.
I got out of an unhappy marriage without too much disruption to my kids' lives or my own.
I am healthy (I play soccer twice a week)
My son plays piano and daughter sings and plays violin.
They are both very musical and good students, and I love them intensely.
My Job
I'm a IT Configuration Manager for DoD.
School
Has it really been 30 years?
I enjoyed band with Mr Budnick and all the "band geeks". We had a fun trip to Winnipeg, even if it WAS marching band. (I wasn't enamored with marching band)
Also playing intramural hockey.
My favorite classes were creative writing (which I took a couple of times under different guises). I especially remember Mr Tietze's class. I got a lot out of Mr Peterson & Mr McKeand in World History
And I had fun in Music theory with Mr Budnik and classmates like Dawn and Jim.
College
I was fortunate to have two colleges from which to...Expand for more
draw experiences. I went my first three years to Gustavus and my senior year to Macalester.
Kudos to the geography dept at each school, esp Mr Lanegran at Mac, who was my impetus for transferring after taking a summer course in Urban geography.
In both, band was a big part of my life. We had a great trip to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Thunder Bay (skied both x-c and downhill). GAMPEC was also fun!
I went to a few too many Barn Beer Busts, esp as a freshman..and had a few too many beers.
I also played intramural hockey at Gustavus, after feeling foolish skating once with the JVs.
Valley was the dorm in 1979, with Barry, Tom B and Craig. We had a great x-c ski trip to International Falls later on..
I had fun working the front desk at Valley and getting or giving nicknames for everyone there.
At Mac, it was Turck hall, with Mark B and I taking care of the freshman girls on the second <?> floor. And Backgammon as procrastination with Patty.
