i ALWAYS WANTED TO FLY since THE 1939 NY World's Fair. My resume in the yeaqrbook stated that I would attend The Academy of Aeronautics. I lived on 130th Street and 135th Ave, which was a half mile from Runway 13 Right at Idlewild. I played Saxophone in the Adams band with Larry O'Brien, Leo Ursini, Gary Edmondson and John Nickerson. Larry retired as director of the Glenn Miller Orchestra. Larry and Judy live in Hawai. We still keep in touch. I graduated High School and went to work at the Port of NY Autrhority. Joined the US Navy. Went to Meteorology School and spent two years in Pensacola, Fl., which is the Cradle of Naval Aviation....Expand for more
I flew alot and was bitten even further. Went to work for Northeast Airlines on the ground at LaGuardia and attended Flight School on Long Island and New Jersey.. Hired as a Pilot in 1965 with Northeast Airlines and retired as a B 767 International Captain from Delta Airlines in 1996. I wrote a book on my memoirs entitled "A Pilot's Memoirs-From The Ground Up." which highlights my 4 years at John Adams. I now live in Florida and am getting back into the air aftrer a 16 year hiatus. I am also a Captain in the Civil Air Patrol and mentoring young teen agers. I am looking forward to our 60th and renewing old acquaintances. See you there.
