My Spouse
JoAnne was judging a talent show at St. Theresa's. I told jokes and sang "Country Roads" and she warned all the girls there to keep far away from me, so the only dates I could get were with her. Lucky for me!
My Pets
My dogs and cats are all mutts. Chelsea is oldest. She likes to bark at jet airplanes, the big ones flying about 5 miles high. Bridgit is bigger but very timid. Full of love. A visiting puppy will grow to be the size of an ox. If her family doesn't retrieve her, she'll need a big home and family. The cats are stupendous. Mikala is snobby and loving. Perry is aloof and loving but remakably calm and savvy. Spends most of her time outdoors. A visiting cat stays in my daughter's room and hates mixing with the others. Lost her brother and never recovered her confidence. The fish are huge and need a bigger tank, or pond. I guess we overfed them or something. All my pets, of course, belong to my kids, so that means they're my responsibility. Still I like having barking dogs in the yard. Keeps the bad guys away.
My Kids
Tommy is oldest, a natural artist. We're working right now to open an art studio so we have a place to show and sell our art, make some money on the side. No interest in school or any ...Expand for more
other profession that I can tell. A lot like me.
Marie is next. Works at the library. Has significant boyfriend. Lives at our house. Wants to be independent. Doesn't get enough sleep. Takes care of all her friends, all their problems. Needs to learn to set some boundaries, I think. Helps us with bills now and then.
Anne is 18 and will give us our first grandkid. She's homeschooling for her high-school diploma. Wish we'd tried this long ago. Immensely independent, she ought to be self-employed. Very social and happy. That's a good thing.
Katie is 16. President of drama club at Camelback High. Lots of other stuff. Works part time. Planning to go to University of Souther Utah(?) to study Shakespeare, then pre-med. Seems best able to run her own life.
Those are the kids, in brief. Of course there's lots more.
My Job
I have nine students with multiple disabilities. I help them learn to read, write, talk, walk, eat... whatever they need. It is very fun and rewarding. The school system is too political for my taste, but bearable. I'm preparing for a push to get certified as a teacher, perhaps a counselor using art therapy. I work with my son on weekends to start an art studio which may become my clinic down the road.
