Thomas's Story

Here's the short version of the last 48 years: RHS class of 67. Got degrees in aeronautics from MIT and Georgia Tech. Published Model Rocketry national magazine. I was in ROTC and expected to then go into the Army, but the war was winding down, so I found a job at Ford's Aeronutronics division in California working on missiles and aircraft sensors. I got married, then called up for 2 years service in the US, mostly at Ft Devens, Mass. Moved back to Southern Calif. I was active in personal computer clubs, marathon running (12 marathons), hang gliding (ran the national championship twice), then human-powered vehicles (world record attempt with Olympic athletes). I started a company in hang glider parts. Wife Judy won the world championship ultramarathon (100 miles). In 1984. I worked at Northrop on military sensors, missiles, and the B2. Got called up on Christmas before the first Gulf war to fix a key weapon system before the start of the land war. Got an MBA degree. Got divorced and a new marriage. In 1994, since ...Expand for more

Seems like everything breaks down at the same time. Had a water heater fail, still under warranty (provided I return it to Home Depot!) Getting hard for me to lift 120 lb (empty) water heater onto its required elevated plat
Happy Mother's Day! Tania, always the flower designer, made this bouquet for Linda, from our own flowers.
Linda, Lisa, and Pepper, finally made it to Dog Beach. Australian cattle dogs aren't the one's to play in the surf.

Huntington Beach is not so nice when the sea is angry!
Another day at the beach. It was getting crowded on the Huntington Beach pier watching the 10 ft waves.
Linda and I have been going through an ordeal, trying to get a "real" ID from the California DMV. Made 7 visits to the Fullerton DMV to meet changing requirements and finally submitted the application. It took a full 3 mont
Rockin Thanksgiving luncheon at the Redeemer Church. Paul (second from left) plays bass.
Finally made it to an author's club meeting in LA. Unfortunately, while we were having lunch the freeway caught on fire. Here is Linda at a strange bookstore next door, where you walk through a maze of bookshelves.
Saw this interesting car driving down Beach Blvd, with an Idaho license plate. The logo says it's a Chevrolet, and the rear fender sort of looks like a Corvette. What is it?
When the Socal forecast calls for Santa Ana winds, the meteorologist's hair demonstrates the effect. (Thanks to Danny Romero, Channel 7)

The cleaning lady goes around the park early Monday mornings to clean the restrooms and replace the toilet paper. Not a great job, but I'm glad someone does it. Here is her car trunk open so she can get to the toilet paper

Before there were personal computers or smart phones, The Computer was an IBM 360 mainframe. It was a monstrous, blue-paneled machine, locked in an exclusive, over-cooled room. One of the early innovations was the ability o
