Life Since High School Academics and Organizations: Attended MTSU 1978-82 with a bachelors in Political Science and minors in diplomatic history and english composition; Lettered in Football at MTSU 1978-79; Lettered in Karate 1981-82 (University Competitive Team Co-Captain). Joined Kappa Sigma Fraternity, served as Big Brother to Delta Zeta Sorority, was the Student Government representative for the Sigma Club (Male Academic Honor Society), member of the Pre-Law Society, served as student member on the MTSU Discipline Committee, and student member on the MTSU Appeals Committee. Attended as representative of MTSU the Tennessee Intercollegiate State Legislature and proposed legislation resulted in Tenn. Code Ann. 12-4-802, Allowance of Bidding Preferences - Reciprocity. Attended graduate school at MTSU from 1982-83 in criminal justice administration (MCJA)and interned with then Judge (now former Tennessee Justice) AA Birch in the Davidson Co. Criminal Court. Attended law school from 1992-1996 and passed the Tennessee bar in 1996. Admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of Tennessee, the U.S. District Court for Middle, Eastern and West Tennessee, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, U.S. Tax Court and the United States Supreme Court.
