Thomas O'Haver:  

After Jesuit high school, I attended Spring Hill College in Mobile, Alabama, then graduate school at the University of Florida, Gainesville. In my last year there I met Mary Pelaez (on a blind date set up by my research director's wife) and we were married in Miami in 1968. I was offered a faculty position at the University of Maryland, College Park, and we moved there right after getting married. We have two sons, both of whom live and work in Maryland. Mary worked as a 4th and 5th grade teacher in Montgomery County. After 30 years on the job, we both retired in 1999 and now spend the winters in Naples, FL, and the summers in Maryland. We've done a lot of traveling, to Great Britain, China, Japan, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Alaska, Costa Rica, Peru, Galapagos, African bush camps in Botswana, Zambia, and Zimbabwe,...Expand for more
