Thomas's Story
Tom is from Speedway, Indiana. He married fellow classmate Karen Tremor Popcheff in July of 2001, and lived in Avon, IN for a while. Tom and Karen moved back to Speedway in 2007, and have thoroughly enjoyed living in the Old Speedway City Historic Neighborhood just west of Main St. Tom's schools include St. Christopher Elementary School, Speedway High School, and upon graduation from High School, attended the University of Cincinnati concentrating on a study towards a Political Science degree, and transferred to Purdue University prior to his graduation from college receiving a degree in Political Science with a minor in Business Administration. Inc. as the organization’s Chief Administrative Officer. Prior to his retirement in June of 2018, Tom was inducted as an Honorary Member of the Society. He also served as the Deputy Commissioner of the Department of Administration for the State of Indiana during Governor Robert D. Orr’s Administration, and was named a Sagamore of the Wabash prior to his resignation from State Government. He also had careers with Browning Investments, and Johnson Controls Inc. before completing his professional career with the Nursing Honor Society. Tom remains active as a volunteer in Speedway and currently serve as the Vice President of the Speedway Public Library Board of Trustees, and as the President of the Speedway Redevelopment Commission.
