Thomas's Story

Well, after St. Martha's, I went on to Ryan. Wasn't very happy in my life at the time. Family issues. I went on to Geo.Washington, North East High and Finally Ben Franklin High. I graduated in 1989, but really didn't bother with the people in my school. I had my circle of friends from all the different schools. I went on to go to Community College. Wasn't really my thing. I had been doing construction work and working in restaurants for years. For the last 12 years, I have been managing restaurants. I have been a General Manager for the last 5 years. Managing restaurants takes up all your time, holidays, weekends, 12-14 hour days and it is 6-7 days a week. I won the Gen. Manager of the year award and received all kinds of awards over the years, but it wasn't enough. I quit my last job a few months ago, to reconnect with my children and my wife. Funny, you can live with people and miss them everyday. My wife Bernadette graduated from Ryan H.S. and we have been together for 13 years. Married for 8. She is my world and my best friend. I have 4 children. Paul-Thomas is 12. He's a "A" Student, plays football, baseball and studies Tae Kwon Do. He's handsome and smart. Jackson is 7. He is the funny one. His smile lights up a room. He plays T-ball and loves to follow his big brother around. Bridget-Kate is 3 1/2, but has a attitude like a 16 yr. old. She is tougher then any little boy. Fearless. She knows what she wants and goes after it. My baby girl is Elizabeth. She is 1 1/2. We call her Lil' Bit. My daughter Bridget couldn't say Elizabeth, it came out Lil Bit and the name stuck. She is daddy's little girl. She is on my hip all the time. She is gentle, loving and so curious. Hey dressing dolls and finding barbies takes alot of work. I worked my butt off for years. success in my career. Banked away some money. Moved to Hanover, Pa. Bought a big house, that needed lots of work. So I spend my days putting in new floors, windows, dry wall and playing with my girls. At night I run to school events martial arts classes, sporting events and playing with my kids. My wife is studing to become a paramedic and works. So I took over as Mr. Mom. Hey it's cool. I'll go back to work someday. Right now, I'm getting to know my kids and who I am. I've acheived all the goals I set for myself years ago. Career, Martial Arts, travel, sports, etc. Now it's my wife's turn. Being a paramedic, has always been her dream. She stayed home for 13 years being a mom. It's her turn. We love our life. Four beautiful, healthy children, Big house, lots of land and a great marriage. Driving to a store or game is awesome. You get to see cows, horses, huge fields of corn or whatever. The schools are clean, safe and well staffed. People actually open doors and say hello. I get back to Philly a few times a year. I've got to see my family. My brother Joe took over my Mom's house. Mom moved back to Port Richmond, where she gre up. My sisters got married and still live in Philly. I've got 2 nephews and 2 neices. All are beautiful. Joe and I are very close. He comes out here and I just was at his house. We had to do some dry walling. He's getting married in the summer. So, I'm looking forward to some new nephews or neices. Well, that's all that I feel like typing for now. I was close to some in grade school. I loved Mr. U and Miss Santilassi. Both of them had a profound effect on my life. I would have liked to know some of the kids better, but hey! That's life. Lost some good friends along the way. I found myself and I like who I am now, better then the guy back then.
