Tim's Story

Life Well, right out of high school I went to work. I had gotten a job delivering produce. It didn't last very long. Maybe 9 months or so. Thank goodness. That was when I got a job with JC Penney. Also driving, only delivering furniture. I stayed there for 6 years until the company decided to close the warehouse and move it Chino, Ca. I decided not to go. But during that 6 years I moved to Roseville with my girlfriend. We had gotten together when I was a junior and had gotten engaged. Things happened and that ended not quite the way we thought. After JC Penney I took a little time off. I had forgotten what it was like to be single. Had alot of fun. Eventually went to work driving for an underground construction company. During this time is when I met my beautiful wife. She wasn't hard to find, I just could not have her. She was married. No I didn't break up a marriage. But one day after her relationship had ended, she called me. I couldn't say no. So we started dating. About 2 weeks later I was involved in a bad accident where I lost half of my left index finger. She stayed right by my side. Not long after that we moved in together. It was the five of us. Her, her 3 children, and me. Wow was it a big change for me. My next job was driving for Pick'n'Pull. hauling junk cars. That didn't last very long either. Very tedious. So i decided to go into business fo...Expand for more
r myself. I started a mobile auto repair business. I loved to work on cars. Just not my own. It seemed to do alright from the get go. But thats the way it stayed for about 6 years. In 1999, I got married. We had a beautiful wedding at Elk Grove park. All the kids and my brother and sister were in it. And the flowers were my wifes favorite, cal lilies. After trying to keep my hopes up with business, I decided it was time to go back to work and get a steady paycheck. And that's where I am at now. I work for Pacific Coast Building Products as a safety coordinator. I didn't start there. I started as a driver. Delivering roofing and drywall materials. It was hard work. But soon it paid off. I had gotten a promotion to dispatcher. I could use my head instead of killing myself on rooftops. Which almost happened by the way. I was on a wet roof in Pollock Pines and slipped. It wasn't a far fall, just 15 feet. But I shattered my left heel. It's been 2 years and is still getting better. Anyways, I was the dispatcher for for about a year and a half and then received another promotion to safety coordinator. Which is where I am now. I try to make sure the types of things that happened to me don't happen to the guys I work with. Now I have just celebrated my 7th wedding anniversary, 2 of my kids have graduated high school, and the 3rd is on her way. It's been a crazy ride.
