Timothy's Story

Life Graduated early in 1979 from Latta High School via West Florence during summer program so that I could enter the service at an earlier timeframe. Retired from the United States Navy as Aviation Antisubmarine Warfare (AW) and then as Hospital Corpsman stationed with the United States Marines as their "DOC" or Marine Medic. Obtained rank of Master Chief (E-9) but retired in July 2003. A graduate of Trevecca Nazarene University Nashville, TN. with an M.Ed.(Leadership and Supervision, Educational Principal) , Magna Cum Laude from Crichton College with a B.S. in Education. Employed by Shelby County Schools as Middle School Teacher at Arlington Middle School (for school website checkout Shelby County Schools in Tennessee and click on Arlington Middle Faculty). I currently live in Memphis, Tennessee. Have been married for over 20 years to the former LaDonna Golden of Munford, TN. who teaches 5th grade at Austin Peay Elementary. We have two beautiful boys: Cody (8) in the second grade and Colton (6) in the first grade as of February 2007. They are awesome. Have always wondered about classmates and how they ventured out into the world and how they made their mark on society. Who would have ever imagined that I would be a school teacher or now a school principal? My wife says I look the same but she did not know me when I...Expand for more
weighed only 150lbs at 6'. (Smile). I stay active in church as choir, sunday school teacher, and as a young adult director of services or wherever God leads me. Fortunately, I am not the same guy that left Latta and I guess that is why I chose not to live there in my later years or raise my family in the vicinity. Too many personal memories of poverty, neglect, and child abuse. I tried to keep that part a secret from my close friends: Debra Black, Victor Jackson and Darryl Elliott. They knew but they were probably the only ones I confided in. I would not describe myself as a "success story" but a survivor through God, my personal Savior, who has richly blessed me with deliverance and forgiveness. It is with this great gift of forgiveness that I am able to forgive my step-father and mother. Life moves on and each day brings peace and salvation for those who seek him. My favorite scripture "We can do all things in Christ who strengthens us"! To Deborah Monahan, Janine (Braddock), David / Deborah Edge, Melvin Jackson, Victor / Tammy Jackson, Debra (Black), Wyman Bethea, and Darryl Taylor, you guys are the best. To my fellow classmates, servicemembers, and friends: Always set the example for others to emulate. We can only change our future one child at a time. God Bless America, Our Servicemembers, and our families.
