Tom's Story

Life Well we left Oceanside when I was a sophmore to move to Bend Oregon with my Parents, Roz and Ed Bachman, Mom was a teacher at Victory. Anyways, Graduated from Bend High School and got married there, I have been married since 1984 and have three kids two in college and one a senior in High School. I married Dalleen Swanson a 1980 graduate from Bend High. I have been in Youth Ministry for that long as well, I am the State Director for Youth Alive and love what I do. We start Bible Clubs on Public School campuses and recruit teenagers to be campus missionaries, we do Multi-media School assemblies, and numerous other endeavors. I love what I do. My wife is a nurse, my oldest daughter just graduated from Southeastern University in Lakeland, Florida with a degree in Early childhood education, my middle daughter is studying social work and my son is studying ....... hmmmm sports. I love being a husband, a dad, and serving God. School School memories from Victory, it was so long ago, but it not only included Victory but my final two years in Elementary School. Christian school was good and bad for me, in the day it was possible to be sheltered and I was by my parents and living in the community of Victory. Those friends I made at Victory were my closest school friends I ever had, even though I am on this to make contact with them and really to date only have been in contact with a few of you. Mr. Mebane probably was the most influencial teacher I had that impacted my life. But I think about the friendships, Tom Austin, Steve Gaggero, Rob Lauer, Todd Acheson, and then the first crushes....I won't name them. These ...Expand for more
relationships shaped me for the remainder of my life, I wish I could make contact with all of you and say thank you for helping me become the man and father I am. I pray that you are blessed, because of your investments in me. College When I moved to Bend, Oregon I completed my two years of Education at Bend High, and then continued my education at Central Oregon Community College. I was headed into Aerospace Engineering when one Sunday Morning the summer of my College Freshman year, at Bend First Assembly of God, I received my calling to full-time vocational ministry, I was already involved in a relationship with Dalleen, my future wife, so I didn't continue my studies the tradional way but received my ministerial credentials thru distance education, thru Global University. I don't carry your a-typical degree but am ordained thru the Assemblies of God. Workplace As I stated before I have been in Youth Ministry since 1984, it has been so much fun and love this stage of ministry I am involved in. I am known through-out the state of Oregon and am a Father figure to many of the fatherless youth I work with. I love seeing the lights in the eyes of teens go on when they begin to realize the value of a relationship with the Lord God almighty. I hope to continue this endeavor through to retirement and eventually be the grandpa to the youth of Oregon. My life purpose is to Love God and Love others. We are beginning to expand our team, even though we don't do things in the traditional "church" way our goal is to reach them thru love and meeting their needs. I truly love what I do and am completely fullfilled in my life.
