Tom's Story
Life
I live in Gurnee with my wife Sonja, we have been married 13 years.
We have two boys, Matt (11 yrs) and John (9 yrs.). Matt is an accomplished soccer player whom plays in elite Illinois leagues, John is a more carefree hockey player that is more interested in the snacks.
After HS I studied engineering at UIUC. I worked for Hughes Aircraft for 15 years in LA and Santa Barbara. I did my graduate work in engineering at USC. During that time I worked on military and NASA satellite projects. Met my wife out there and had a wonderful time enjoying a high quality of life. We still spend considerable vacation time visiting our friends and family in LA.
I came back to Illinois in 1999 to work for Motorola on their first digital handsets. I didn't care for the work environment much and left after two years to work for a smaller company based in Silicon Valley. I started in Sales and now manage the company design engineering group. at are produced in Japan and ultimately are used in Motorola handsets. I travel frequently throughout Asia and spend considerable time in Japan.
We still see friends from ZBTHS on a weekly basis, and we try to entertain friends as frequently as possible at our house. Our family enjoys boating on Lake Michigan as well as a lot of kid sports (swimming, gymnastics, soccer, hockey, golf, and archery). From my life experience, I am convinced people my size are better suited for sports other than football.
I attended the 25 year reunion and had a great time, I thank our classmates for all of their efforts arranging it. I pledge to be more active for the next reunion , I would like to see a larger contingency of golfers for the next one and will be calling some of you to get you out there. I look forward to getting caught up with our classmates from 1981 and reliving some of the hilarious stories of our collective HS experience, as we did have a lot of fun.
