Tom's Story

Life Monday July 25, 2005 First off, I'd like to thank all of you who attended the July 22nd & 23rd 2005 30th Reunion. It was a sincere pleasure to see so many of you there. I invite you to contact me with questions and comments regarding the reunion. I will pass them on the others of our organizing committee. Please note that Syd Arborgast Keating , Lorraine Elsen Pearson, Mike Berg, and myself will get together before the end of August for a post-mortem of the reunion. We will collate and distribute all the final materials and information among us, so that any of us can pass the material on to future organizers. I'm a father of three (2 girls and a boy), and remarried in 1999 after a long separation. My kids have always lived with me, and seem no worse for it. I guess I've done something right! I have a daughter in the Presidential Leadership Class at CU-Boulder, and two kids at Standley Lake HS in NW JeffCo. I'm very involved at their high school. I'm beginning a two-year term as PTSA President, having already served two years as VP. I am currently VP of Athletic Boosters, and was invited by the administration this past Spring to serve on a panel hiring a new head football coach. I've been working in television and radio production since 1979 -- it's really the only work I've known in my adult life. I've been the Production Manager & Director for a local TV station for about 11 years, and have been shooting sports for TV for over 25 years. My profession has allowed me to travel Europe, the Caribbean, and more. I'm an avid scuba diver. I'm currently working on my Rescue Diver certification. I enjoy boating, fishing and camping. I took my son, Tommy, up to northern Canada this past June for a week of fishing for the big ones. I've...Expand for more
been restoring an old power boat the past two summers, and run it out at Standley Lake. I'm one of those people whose interests vary widely, and seldom remain focused on any one thing for very long. I guess it's the learning I find exciting, more so than the doing. I've been teaching my kids to play guitar the last year or so, and we are starting to gather a lot of "toys" -- pedals, mics, mixers, PA system, etc. It can get a little loud at the Craig household. My wife plays keyboards, and so is very tolerant of her new family's musical excesses. By the way, how many guitars is too many?! I want to leave you with abbreviated lyrics from a song I wrote after a previous reunion. I had met an old friend who had become a very beautiful person and Lady, and there was great joy in rediscovering each other and re-forging friendship anew. I think they apply to a lot of us, and maybe they'll help to bridge the fading memories of yesteryear to the here and now. The lyrics are mine and are copywritten. I wish you all Love. - Tom Craig - ------------------------------------------------------------- HERE'S TO NOW Old friend, New friend, it's been so long since way back when. Wiser now, so innocent then. Beyond the years we meet again. And the lines of age upon our faces Loves won and lost have left their traces On the child I was, and the Lady you are In between we've journeyed so far to now. Here's to now. As the memories crash over us Waves of confessions from out of the past There's memories yet to be made as we meet here at last We meet here at the last Old friend, New friend, the future holds Life's promises The past? It's echoes slowly fading away... And we're left confronting this moment, today, now. Here's to now.
