Tom's Story
I was at 3r one year; my parents were trying to improve my "study habits"(for good reason). I rode the bus over from Richmond(the "garden spot" of the Bay Area) with a briefcase of books. I hated riding the bus.
Mr. Conway was my favorite teacher, although all were high-quality. He wore a suit and rode to work on an old Raleigh bicycle. The Latin teacher kept minute, detailed notes on pocket cards. Very unusual person. There were only a few of us in that class.
One day a guy stood outside the playground fence, handing out LSD; I gave it to my parents(no, they didn't eat it).
Buzzy Donahue was one of my classmates, as were Kathy McKenna and Joan Jacobs(sigh!).
I remember Terry Gadwood, Bill Bullard, a girl named Tamara, Mr. Kirchanski...one day, some...Expand for more
one was handing out LSD on the playground. I took some home and gave it to my mom--I was doing a report on LSD at the time, so I told her, "don't eat this, whatever you do." (She didn't). There was a Classical Literature instructor who seemed to have an eye for the boys. Mr. Meadows was the effeminate Biology teacher from the UK.
I never studied so much, before or since 3r School. I've often wondered what would have happened had I graduated, and what happened to those who did graduate.
I returned to public school in Fall, 1967 and my study habits went out the window; public school did not begin to expect the effort required by 3r. Fortunately, I survived The Turbulent Sixties.
Best of everything to all! I welcome feedback--tell me about yourselves.
